Congratulations to Kitchen Tune-Up Wichita, KS, owners Rachel and Adam Phillips for their rare achievement. They won two Project of the Year awards for 2020, thanks to a pair of dramatic kitchen transformations. The Phillips’s fellow franchisees chose these two projects as among the best of the best. To win a Project of the Year award, a project must already have won a Project of the Month nod from the Kitchen Tune-Up Home Office. Those winners become the pool from which Kitchen Tune-Up franchise owners nationwide select Projects of the Year. For 2020, only eight projects took home this accolade, including these two in Wichita, KS.

A Classy Makeover

The first winner is a major renovation showcasing an unmissable and stunning addition, the deep blue island, topped with an exquisite, eye-catching granite countertop by Cambria. This island is generous enough for family gatherings and gorgeous enough to draw guests’ acclaim. The sink lives on the island now, while the stove got a makeover beneath a stainless-steel hood and a backsplash of cool grey, cracked glass tile. Floating shelves in rich, solid walnut give a hint of farmhouse style. The cabinet hardware, in beautiful champagne gold, stands out against the white doors. The amazing globe-shaped chandeliers over the island are like suspended sculptures completing the picture. This project earned the Phillips yet another award, the 2020 Chrysalis Award for kitchen remodels costing less than $75,000.

Raising the Bar

The second winning kitchen from Kitchen Tune-Up Wichita, KS is also a major alteration to an existing kitchen. Even the large window couldn’t brighten up the original kitchen’s dimness, so big changes were essential. Kitchen Tune-Up removed a wall to create the convenient new bar counter you see here. Then the swaps began: Change dark wood cabinet doors for brighter, white Dalton Shaker doors. Replace the stove’s old backsplash of large tiles with a backsplash in a pretty lattice pattern to engage the eyes. Drop in a stainless-steel vent hood. Wrap the kitchen island in gray, to contrast with the white cabinets, and add a large worktop. A large yet light chandelier illuminates the room while also creating a modern look. The cabinets extend into the dining area, too, with extra storage, attractive glass fronted doors and an additional sink. Attention to detail, and the boldness to take on big renovations, helped win the Phillips their double Project of the Year awards.
